ABOUT LONDON SPEECH THERAPY
London Speech Therapy was founded in early 2009 by Chris Wade, Consultant Speech & Language Therapist. Chris achieved a BA (Hons) Linguistics at Lancaster University and then a BSc (Hons) Clinical Language Sciences (Speech and Language Therapy) at Leeds Metropolitan University.
Following a successful career in the NHS, working across five London Boroughs in a variety of settings, Chris identified the growing need for direct Speech & Language Therapy (SLT) was in direct contrast with the reducing SLT provision being provided by the NHS. On a daily basis Chris spoke to parents and schools who wanted to 'top-up' the provision they were receiving from the NHS and as such he decided to 'take the plunge' and develop a SLT service that was able to work with his colleagues in the NHS and provide effective intervention.
Seven years on London Speech Therapy has grown from strength to strength and now provides SLT assessments; intervention and training to families and schools across London; Essex and South Wales.
Keen on quality control, Chris now directly employs 27 Speech & Language Therapists and regularly monitors the quality of their work.
In order to maintain one of the founding principles of London Speech Therapy, in providing a service that works with our SLT colleagues in the NHS, we also directly employ NHS Speech & Language Therapists at all levels of our organisation. Our NHS SLTs not only provide assessments; intervention and staff training but also provide junior members of the London Speech Therapy team with ongoing clinical supervision. Additionally, our annual staff appraisals are overseen by two senior NHS Speech & Language Therapists.
All London Speech Therapists are fully qualified Speech and Language Therapists with a Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC) registration; Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks and are members of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
The London Speech Therapy Harley Street clinic is located at number 127 and it is where a like-minded group of Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists, Clinical and Educational Psychologists, Therapists and a Developmental Paediatrician work as independent professionals with the highest modern standards of clinical practice.
Finally, from a business perspective, in January 2015 the London Speech Therapy team won a Theo 'Dragon's Den' Pathitis Small Business Sunday award., working across five London Boroughs in a variety of settings, Chris identified the growing need for direct Speech & Language Therapy (SLT) was in direct contrast with the reducing SLT provision being provided by the NHS.
