Kandahke Johnson
Developing Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Kandahke completed her pre-registration degree course at the University of Essex in 2021. Since graduation, Kandahke has spent 3 years working for a NHS Secondary schools and core assessment team. During this time, Kandahke has delivered assessment and therapy to children and young people with varying needs. Kandahke is passionate about involving the client and their community in their positive outcomes. In her previous role she led parent/carer workshops and awareness days to promote the knowledge of speech, language and communication needs among the wider community.
Kandahke has a particular interest in empowering children and young people with Developmental Language Disorder to understand their diagnosis and build strategies to achieve their communication goals. Kandahke has experience assessing and/or providing therapy with the following areas:
Autism, Cluttering, language needs, Developmental Language Disorder, dementia in young people, SEMH needs, Situational (selective) Mutism, social communication and speech sounds.
Kandahke has completed various trainings including; Makaton, SHAPE CODING, sensory integration approaches. Prior to working as a speech and language therapist Kandahke worked as an Assistant Practitioner, reviewing adults with Dementia, which has led to her interest in providing intergenerational opportunities for community development.
In her spare time, Kandahke enjoys running a community craft club, playing her saxophone and looking after her plants.
Kandahke is a new addition to LST and looking forward to being part of the team.
